About the Studio – Divine’s Designs

Divine’s Designs is a home based studio that is licensed with the City of Leduc. I have regular classes that are posted, but will also offer individual classes for those that would like learn.

Beginners are most welcome and the only fee to them would be the cost of the class and the surface. All tools and paint are loaned to the student until they decide if this is something that they might like to pursue. The majority of my classes are open classes whereby the students all are painting different projects.

About the Owner – Pat Monilaws

My husband, Tom and I have been living in Leduc, Alberta since 1981.  We have 2 grown children and 4 grandchildren.

I was introduced to Folk Art in January 2003 and this quickly became my passion.  I attended “Paint in Alberta” in Calgary  in August 2003.  I was unable to get into Mary Owen’s class and was very disappointed especially after seeing the projects that the beginners were producing.

I knew then and there that this was something that I really wanted to do.  Mary was offering her last open certification program in Seattle that November of 2003 and I enrolled right away.  There I found Mary’s technique to be so much fun and rewarding and knew that I would like to teach this technique.

When I came back from Seattle, I called Cindi (Mary’s daughter and business manager) and arranged to complete my certification down at Pookie Bear’s Den in Leesburg, Florida.  I did pass and I now am a Certified Mary Owens teacher and can be found on Mary’s web site. I now distribute for Mary in Western Canada and have 99% of her product in stock.

I have also completed the Kinglsan program (genesis paint) and the Etchall program. I like to travel to the conventions and to Jo Sonya’s studio to improve my painting skills and to bring what I know back to my students.
